Manager/Senior Manager – Technical Accounting & IPO Services

Our managers play a critical role on our consulting engagements and interface with accounting and finance executives on key projects. Working for Effectus Group you will quickly begin working with management teams of some of most the innovative companies in the world. In your role at Effectus Group, you will be managing a team of senior associates and associates on projects related to:

Leading IPO engagements and providing guidance to clients throughout the IPO

Drafting S-1, 10-K, 10-Q, and other public company filings

Drafting private company financial statements

Drafting technical memos and accounting policies

ASC 606 revenue analysis projects

ASC 842 lease analysis projects

Managing a client’s audit process and preparing audit support

Carve-out financial statement preparation

Purchase price accounting for business combinations

Post-merger opening balance sheet preparation

Desired Skills and Experience

Experience in writing technical accounting memos

Financial Reporting and hands on financial statement preparation with full footnote disclosures

Drafting SEC forms, including S-1, 10-K, 10-Q, 20-F, and other filings

Leases accounting experience (including hands-on experience implementing with ASC 842)

Equity accounting experience (stock based compensation, preferred stock, EPS, warrants, etc.)

Debt issuances and debt modifications

Research and development and clinical trial accrual accounting

Collaboration arrangement accounting

Commercialization accounting (gross-to-net)

Managed Accounting Services – Accounting Manager/Senior Manager

Effectus Group’s Managed Accounting Services (MAS) practice provides accounting and finance assistance on an interim, full-time basis to high-growth companies. We specialize in deploying a highly integrated and experienced team to tackle critical operational accounting projects. These activities typically take the form of controllership services that include identifying areas for improvement in the financial close process and implementing changes. Our managed services professionals are an extension of our clients’ accounting and finance teams, effectively augmenting our clients’ ability to complete the monthly close, preparation of financial information, and prepare support for a external audits.

We have positions open for both accounting managers and senior accounting managers and the level will be determined based on your skill set and experience.

Responsibilities

The Accounting Manager/Sr. Manager will have 5+ years of experience, including a mix of public accounting and industry accounting experience. Given the high-growth nature of our clients, managed services professionals oftentimes will need to be creative, quick-thinking, consultative and flexible to a client’s changing needs. Those that are problem solvers, clear communicators, and enjoy taking ownership and seeing projects through to completion will excel in this role. Our managed services professionals will also support our consulting teams on client projects in our various offices, as needed. You may need to work at the client site, but our teams primarily work remotely.

You will be able to work with innovative companies, partner with the C-suite executives, and become a trusted advisor!

Specific Areas of Responsibility include:

Interim Accounting Assistance

  • Ownership of the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close
  • Accounting GL reconciliations
  • Consolidation accounting
  • Monthly financial statements
  • Audit preparation and support
  • Post-close acquisition integration
  • Commissions calculation support
  • Lease accounting calculation support
  • Perform contract reviews
  • Opening balance sheet integration
  • R&D and clinical trial accruals

Finance Transformation

  • Provide interim controllership solutions
  • Accelerate the financial close process
  • Identify potential financial risk areas
  • Optimize financial reporting Board packages
  • Obtain understanding of investor and Board financial transformation needs
  • Develop clear definitions for KPIs
  • Refine inputs for reporting capabilities
  • System Implementation solutions (NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, Coupa, Tipalti, Blackline, FloQast, Sage Intacct, QuickBooks)

Desired Skills and Experience

  • 5+ years of industry experience preferably in the Technology and/or Life Science verticals
  • Experience driving the financial close, recording journal entries, preparing financial statements, and assisting with audit PBC preparation
  • Ability to land-and-expand with client project opportunities
  • Able to work as part of a team, or be an individual contributor
  • Take ownership for outcomes and results on projects; be very hands-on
  • Ability to quickly adapt to client’s changing priorities
  • Professional approach to working with and interacting with clients
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to manage client accounting staff, if needed, including being a key contact for clients
  • Strong interest in operational accounting and desire to continually increase knowledge and improve skillsets
  • Proficient in the use of typical applications used by accounting professionals, including NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, Coupa, Tipalti, Blackline, FloQast, Sage Intacct, QuickBooks
  • 3+ years of public accounting experience with Big 4 experience is highly preferred, CPA is highly preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent required
